Assumptions and limitations
- This tool uses the US quarter-pound stick. Packages described as a stick in other markets may have different masses.
- Mass conversions use the international pound, exactly 453.59237 g. US cup, tablespoon and teaspoon measures use the US liquid gallon definitions.
- The volume relationship is the conventional recipe measure for a stick, not a measured density for every butter temperature or product. Weigh butter when a recipe specifies mass.
- Zero quantities are valid. Fractions of a stick scale linearly; negative quantities are rejected.
Common questions
Is a metric 250 mL cup the same as this cup?
No. This converter uses a US customary cup of 236.5882365 mL; half of that is 118.29411825 mL.
References
Bookify consistently uses a US quarter-pound stick and US recipe volume measures, replacing rounded gram and metric-half-cup values, and rejects negative amounts.
