Assumptions and limitations
- These are approximate culinary substitutions. Clove size, product strength, texture and packing can change the amount needed.
- The captured ratios use a 5 mL teaspoon. Metric tablespoons are 15 mL; US spoon options convert the same modeled volume using their exact customary definitions. A modeled pinch is 1/16 of a 5 mL teaspoon.
- Garlic salt adds salt as well as garlic. Adjust the recipe’s other salt using the product label and taste; the calculator does not calculate sodium.
- Fractional cloves and zero quantities are allowed for recipe scaling. The ratios are estimates, not precise flavor or nutrition equivalences.
Common questions
Why is the US teaspoon result slightly different?
A US teaspoon is approximately 4.92892 mL, while the model teaspoon is 5 mL. Switching units preserves volume instead of treating the spoons as identical.
References
Bookify accepts zero garlic quantities, removes arbitrary recipe-size caps and explicitly validates garlic powder as nonnegative. US customary tablespoons use exactly one 256th of a US liquid gallon. US customary teaspoons use exactly one 768th of a US liquid gallon.
