Formula and method

At annual base pay of 52,000 and 260 working days per year, five unused days have a gross modeled value of 1,000.

Payout = annual or weekly pay / working days × leave days; monthly mode uses pay / 30; hourly mode uses rate × hours/day × days

Assumptions and limitations

  • This is pay-rate arithmetic. Whether leave can be sold and which pay components count depend on the applicable employment policy and law; no eligibility or statutory entitlement is calculated.
  • Monthly mode divides monthly base pay by 30 calendar days. Annual and weekly modes use the working-day denominators you enter. These conventions can produce different daily rates.
  • The result is before deductions, tax and any premium or cap. Fractional leave days are accepted when the policy uses them.
  • Working days and hours must be positive; annual days may be up to 366, weekly days up to seven and daily hours up to 24. Zero pay or zero leave gives a zero payout.

Common questions

Why can monthly and annual modes differ?

Monthly mode fixes the divisor at 30. Annual mode divides annual base pay by your entered working-day count. Select the convention required by the payout policy.

References

Bookify accepts zero leave or base pay and bounds the working-day and hours-per-day denominators to valid positive counts.
