Formula and method
At $25 per hour for 8 regular hours and $37.50 per hour for the remaining 4 hours, a 12-hour shift pays $350 before deductions.
Shift pay = regular hours × regular rate + (12 − regular hours) × second rate

Assumptions and limitations
- Every shift is exactly 12 paid hours, split between the two entered rates. Unpaid breaks, premiums and additional pay categories are excluded.
- Regular hours must lie between zero and 12. Enter both rates, including zero for an unused or unpaid portion.
- The retained weekly, monthly and yearly figures use 5, 22 and 260 shifts independently. Twelve displayed 22-shift months equal 264 shifts, so they do not reconcile to the separate 260-shift year.
- Rates and hours are supplied by you. This calculator does not determine overtime eligibility, statutory multipliers, tax or take-home pay.
