Formula and method
A 10 × 5 m footprint plus 10 percent waste is 55 m². With 1 m² rolls, it is 55 roll equivalents; at $4/m² the modeled cost is $220.
A = length × width; total area = A(1 + waste_fraction); rolls = total area/roll area; cost = total area × price per area.

Assumptions and limitations
- The footprint and rolls are rectangular. Curved boundaries, trimming patterns and overlaps are represented only by the user-entered waste allowance.
- Waste is displayed as percent and stored as a fraction. The default 10 percent is a planning value, not a measured requirement.
- The price field is cost per square meter initially, not cost per roll. Total cost uses the continuous total area.
- Roll count is a mathematical equivalent and can be fractional. Buying whole rolls requires rounding up and may change the actual invoice.
Common questions
Is the price per roll?
No. The price selector represents cost per area.
Why can the roll number be fractional?
Area is divided by roll area without integer rounding. Round purchases up if required.
