How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
Two rectangles measuring 10 m by 12 m have a total area of 240 m². At 3 currency units per m², their material budget is 720.
Area = count × length × width; cost = area × price per area.

Assumptions and limitations
- Each space is rectangular and has the same dimensions. Openings, waste, tax and installation labor are excluded.
- The price denominator must match its selected area unit; currency selectors do not provide exchange rates.
- Clear the value you want to solve before entering the remaining independent measurements. Display rounding does not describe measurement uncertainty.
Common questions
How should I enter an unknown quantity?
Leave the unknown field empty. Supply enough independent values; lock a known value if you need to preserve it while changing another control.
References
Enforce the stated arithmetic and physical domains. Integer membership is checked with isInteger, so ordinary, tiny and large fractional counts are rejected even when tolerant floor equality would pass. Pin local metric/imperial defaults and translate captured dataset keys to their exact numeric values, preserving every control and unit.
