Formula and method
A 10 m by 5 m driveway with 10 cm concrete and gravel layers uses 5 m³ of each. At 50 cm grid spacing with zero inset, the continuous rebar allowance is 200 m, forms are 30 m, and the entered material prices give a budget of 1030.
Volumes = length × width × depth; grid length = 2(L−2e)(W−2e)/spacing; forms = 2(L+W).

Assumptions and limitations
- This is a continuous material budget for a rectangular driveway. The grid estimate excludes end-bar rounding, lap lengths, cuts, chairs, ties, delivery, labor, tax and structural design.
- Rebar pieces may be fractional because this reports equivalent stock lengths; it is not a purchase or cutting schedule. Input prices replace illustrative defaults.
- Clear an unknown before solving backward. Currency controls represent the chosen denomination without exchange rates; prices must use the selected denominator units.
