How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
In initial displayed units, Custom density 1500, Length 3, Width 2, Depth 10, Waste factor 10, Unit price 100 gives Total volume to fill 0.6, Weight of the rock 900, Final weight incl. waste 990, Estimated total cost 99.
Mass = bed area×depth×bulk density; purchase mass = mass×(1+waste); cost = purchase mass×price per matching mass unit.

Assumptions and limitations
- Use bulk density for the delivered and compacted material condition. Presets are approximate, not certified density measurements. Beds have constant depth; settlement, grading, vehicle limits and delivery fees are excluded.
- Use compatible measurement units. Clear an unknown before solving for it, and lock independent known values when comparing changes. Currency choices label amounts without exchange-rate conversion.
Common questions
Can I solve backward from the result?
Clear the unknown and enter independent known values. A rounded whole count cannot uniquely recover a continuous dimension; keep the original measured dimensions for procurement planning.

Enforce the stated physical geometry and whole-count domains. Bookify replaces the captured rounded US gallon with the exact 3.785411784-liter definition. The international acre is exactly 43560 square international feet; Bookify replaces the rounded captured area factor.
