How to play Codebreaker
Guess the four-colour code. A solid feedback dot means the right colour in the right place; a ring means the right colour in another place. Play with the original Nickelbar rules and board drawings. Help below the game lists its keyboard and mouse shortcuts. Your current game stays in this browser tab.
- Cycle each peg or use keys 1–5 to choose colours.
- Press Space or Enter to submit a complete guess.
- Use the feedback to crack the code within ten rows.
Keyboard & mouse controls
Click a peg in the current row to cycle its colour (right-click backwards), a colour in the key to set the selected peg, anywhere else to submit the guess

- Play the selected move, or resume
- N / P
- New game / pause
- H / Tab
- Help and settings / choose a game
- U
- Undo (where available)

Press P to pause. Your current game is kept in this browser tab’s session; your best score is stored on this device. Clearing browser data removes saved progress.

The game engine and board drawings come from Nickelbar by Cob Muddybug, adapted to run in a browser. MIT licence and credit.
