Formula and method

A $10,000 budget with $1,000 attire, $4,000 venue costs and $500 custom expenses leaves $4,500. For 50 guests, total spending averages $110 per guest.

Remaining budget = planned budget βˆ’ all six expense-category totals; cost per guest = total expenses / guests

Assumptions and limitations

  • Enter your quotes or estimates. The calculator does not supply market prices, and its zero defaults do not imply that an item will be free.
  • Include taxes, service charges, tips and delivery fees in the relevant amount or custom fields. The model does not add them automatically.
  • Guest count is a positive whole number. Average cost per guest divides all entered costs, including fixed costs, by that count. It is not the marginal cost of one extra guest.
  • All six categories, including custom expenses, count toward the remaining budget. Keep a consistent currency basis; captured conversion rates are not live.

Common questions

Are custom expenses included in the remaining budget?

Yes. They are included in total spending, the cost per guest, the category chart and the remaining-budget calculation.

Does a positive balance mean I should spend the rest?

No. It is simply the difference between the entered budget and costs. You can leave it unallocated or use it as a contingency.

References

Bookify subtracts custom expenses from the wedding budget balance and includes them in every retained inverse of that equation. Bookify requires a positive whole guest count and nonnegative planned budget, with exact budget-balance message boundaries.
