How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
1 liter equals 1000 milliliters and 0.001 cubic meter. Select the US or imperial gallon convention before converting to gallons.
Every field is the same volume; 1 US liquid gallon = 231 in³; 1 imperial gallon = 4.54609 L.

Assumptions and limitations
- Metric spoons are 15 mL per tablespoon and 5 mL per teaspoon. US customary spoons use 1/256 and 1/768 of a US liquid gallon.
- The generic cup denotes 236.59 mL; choose US customary cup (236.5882365 mL), US legal cup (240 mL), or metric cup (250 mL) deliberately. Dry gallons and quarts use the US dry bushel definition.
- Clear the value you want to solve before entering the remaining independent measurements. Display rounding does not describe measurement uncertainty.
Common questions
How should I enter an unknown quantity?
Leave the unknown field empty. Supply enough independent values; lock a known value if you need to preserve it while changing another control.
