How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method

One liter equals approximately 0.2641720524 US liquid gallons. Select the imperial or US dry gallon convention when that is the measure you need.

Mass = volume × density; 1 US liquid gallon = 231 in³; 1 imperial gallon = 4.54609 L.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Choose the gallon convention explicitly. Drops are a nominal 0.05 mL scale, not a physical drop prediction. Mass conversions require a positive density at the actual material temperature; volume must be nonnegative.
  • Select compatible units and clear the quantity to solve before supplying the remaining measurements. Rounded purchase counts cannot uniquely recover a continuous dimension. Currency choices label amounts and do not convert exchange rates.

Common questions

How can I solve for a missing measurement?

Clear that field, then enter independent known values. Lock a known measurement to preserve it while changing another value. Procurement counts are rounded upward and cannot be reversed uniquely.

References

Enforce the stated physical and discrete input domains. Bookify replaces the captured rounded US gallon with the exact 3.785411784-liter definition. The US dry gallon uses one eighth of a 2150.42-cubic-inch bushel, replacing the rounded captured volume factor. Prices per thousand US gallons use the same exact gallon as the volume inputs. The cubic international mile uses the cube of the exact 1609.344-meter mile, replacing a rounded reciprocal factor. The option labeled oil barrel uses 42 US liquid gallons; the captured factor was approximately 31.5 gallons and did not match its oil-barrel label. The US fluid ounce uses one 128th of the exact US liquid gallon, replacing the rounded captured reciprocal factor. The US customary cup uses one sixteenth of the exact US liquid gallon, replacing the rounded captured cup volume. Bookify uses exact customary mass and volume definitions for density units, replacing rounded factors in the reference.
