Formula and method
A 10 by 3 meter wall with one 2 by 1 meter door and two 1 by 1 meter windows has 26 m² of net area. With 10% extra and 2 by 0.2 meter panels, order 72 panels. At 10 per m² plus trim prices of 2, 3 and 4 per meter, the modeled material cost is 398.
Panels = round up(net wall area × (1 + waste fraction) ÷ panel coverage); total cost = full-panel area cost + J-channel + undersill + starter strip

Assumptions and limitations
- Use effective coverage dimensions after any overlap. The model rounds panels up, prices their full coverage area, and uses its rectangular-wall trim layout. Corners, seams, fastening, labor, taxes and site-specific details can require additional materials.
- Enter dimensions, densities and prices that describe the actual project. Quantities absent from the formula are not added automatically.
Common questions
Do nominal panel dimensions equal installed coverage?
