Use the result with context
Results are estimates for planning and education. Confirm rates, taxes, fees, and legal requirements with the relevant institution or a qualified professional before making a financial decision.
Formula and method
At 20 per hour, 40 regular hours per week and five overtime hours per month paid at 1.5 times, monthly regular pay is 3478.50, monthly overtime pay is 150 and monthly gross pay is 3628.50.
Overtime rate = regular rate × multiplier; gross = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × overtime rate.

Assumptions and limitations
- Enter regular and overtime hours separately. This tool does not classify hours or determine exemptions, coverage, regular-rate adjustments or state-specific eligibility.
- The preserved pay-period selector assumes 40 hours per week, 173.925 hours per month and 2087.1 hours per year. Weekly hours multiplied by an hourly rate therefore convert to monthly pay using a factor of 4.348125.
- The federal FLSA baseline for covered nonexempt workers is at least 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours in a workweek. Check your applicable employment rules.
- Gross pay excludes deductions and tax. Pay rates and hours should be nonnegative.
- Amounts use a single consistent currency. Currency selector conversion factors are a captured static snapshot; they are not current FX quotes.
- Clear the unknown field before solving an inverse. Locks keep known values fixed; contradictory locked values require correction.
- Domain review limits calculations to the documented finite scenario; original captured equations, inverses and unit options are retained.
