Formula and method
At 30 per hour, 40 hours per week and 50 paid weeks, annual gross pay is 60,000. A flat 20% deduction leaves 48,000 annually or 24 per paid hour.
Annual gross pay = hourly pay × hours per week × paid weeks; net estimate = gross × (1 − deduction rate)

Assumptions and limitations
- The entered deduction is a single assumed percentage. It does not calculate tax brackets, payroll withholding, credits, benefits or a jurisdiction’s take-home pay. The starting 12% is only an editable example.
- The same hourly rate applies to all entered paid hours. Overtime premiums, bonuses and unpaid time require separate treatment. The schedule allows 1–53 paid weeks and positive weekly hours up to 168.
- Deduction rates range from zero through 100%; a 100% deduction leaves zero modeled net pay.
- Use consistent currencies. Optional currency conversions use the captured source rates, not live market rates.
Common questions
Should I enter 52 weeks automatically?
Enter the number of weeks paid at the stated hours and rate. For unpaid leave, reduce paid weeks; paid vacation can remain included if it earns the same pay.
Does net mean an accurate payroll deposit?
No. Here it means gross pay minus your flat percentage assumption. Actual payroll depends on additional rules and deductions.
