Assumptions and limitations
- This is a denomination conversion within decimal sterling, not a foreign-exchange conversion. It does not use market rates.
- Amounts must be nonnegative. Fractional pence can be useful for quoted unit prices, but a cash payment needs rounding under the applicable payment rules. Pre-decimal pounds, shillings and old pence use a different system.
Common questions
Are GBX and GBP the same unit?
