How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Use the result with context

Results are estimates for planning and education. Confirm rates, taxes, fees, and legal requirements with the relevant institution or a qualified professional before making a financial decision.

Formula and method

A high of 120, low of 90 and close of 90 give a traditional pivot of 100, first resistance of 110 and first support of 80.

Traditional pivot = (high+low+close)/3. DeMark X weights low when close<open, high when close>open, and close when equal; resistance=X/2−low, support=X/2−high.

Assumptions and limitations

  • Use prices from the same completed period and the same instrument. Levels are mechanical conventions; they do not predict profitable trades.
  • The Fibonacci factors are the conventional decimal levels 0.382 and 0.618; Camarilla uses the conventional 1.1 range factor.
  • Use one currency throughout. Retained currency selector factors are a historical snapshot, not live exchange rates.
  • Clear an editable unknown before solving an inverse. Selection controls and forced outputs cannot be inferred.

Common questions

What does this model assume?

Use prices from the same completed period and the same instrument. Levels are mechanical conventions; they do not predict profitable trades.

Can I use the currency menu as a current quote?

No. Keep amounts in one currency; conversion factors are a captured historical snapshot.

References

The calculation follows this reviewed mathematical model: Traditional pivot = (high+low+close)/3. DeMark X weights low when close<open, high when close>open, and close when equal; resistance=X/2−low, support=X/2−high. Required model inputs: The period high cannot be below its low. Closing price must lie inside the period range. Allow legitimate closing prices at the high or low, including a flat trading period.
