How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.

Results are estimates for planning and education. Confirm rates, taxes, fees, and legal requirements with the relevant institution or a qualified professional before making a financial decision.
Formula and method
A single filer with two qualifying children and 80,000 dollars of 2019 income has a simplified historical second-payment amount of 1,550 dollars.
Modeled payment = max(0, adult base + 600 per qualifying dependent − 5% of income above the filing threshold).

Assumptions and limitations
- This is a dated historical numeric reconstruction. It does not establish personal eligibility, reopen a completed program or offer a current benefit.
- The filing thresholds are 75,000 single, 150,000 married and 112,500 head of household. Five percent of excess income reduces the entire modeled payment.
- Qualifying children in these first/second historical rounds generally had to be under age 17. Other tax-return, identity and dependent requirements are assumed.
- The captured inactive 2018 formula is retained in the source data. Actual second advance payments generally used 2019 return information; this model cannot verify those procedural rules.
- These formulas calculate results from entered inputs; a missing input can prevent a result.
Common questions
What does this scenario assume?
This is a dated historical numeric reconstruction. It does not establish personal eligibility, reopen a completed program or offer a current benefit.
What does the result leave out?
The captured inactive 2018 formula is retained in the source data. Actual second advance payments generally used 2019 return information; this model cannot verify those procedural rules.
References
Reviewed local arithmetic: Modeled payment = max(0, adult base + 600 per qualifying dependent − 5% of income above the filing threshold). Model input requirements: Qualifying dependents must be a nonnegative whole count. Income must be nonnegative.
