Formula and method
A 5 × 4 meter area filled to 10 centimeters needs 2 m³. At 1,600 kg/m³ it weighs 3.2 metric tonnes; at 25 per tonne, material costs 80.
Volume = area × depth; mass = volume × bulk density; cost = mass × unit price

Assumptions and limitations
- No. Grain composition, moisture and compaction change bulk density. Replace the preset with a supplier value and account separately for delivery, waste and settlement.
- Use consistent units and project-specific dimensions, density and prices. This geometric estimate does not add quantities that are absent from the formula.
Common questions
Is the preset density suitable for every sand?
No. Grain composition, moisture and compaction change bulk density. Replace the preset with a supplier value and account separately for delivery, waste and settlement.
