Formula and method
A 5% commission on a sale price of 1,000 is 50. Adding that amount gives 1,050; subtracting it gives proceeds of 950 before other adjustments.
Commission = sale price × rate; amount after commission = sale price − commission

Assumptions and limitations
- Not necessarily. Adding a percentage of the starting price differs from grossing up a target net amount when the fee is charged on the final sale price. This calculator shows the former arithmetic.
- Use consistent periods, currency and accounting definitions. The result follows the stated formula and the figures you supply.
Common questions
Does adding the commission preserve my target net proceeds?
