Formula and method
A 50 cm by 20 cm surface with a 2 mm layer has volume 200 mL before absorption or waste. The thickness is a geometry input, not a product recommendation.
Rectangle volume = length × width × thickness; circular volume = π × diameter² × thickness ÷ 4
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Rectangle length
- 50 cm
- Rectangle width
- 20 cm
- Entered uniform coating thickness
- 2 mm
- Rectangle geometric coating volume
- 200 mL
Assumptions and limitations
- The surface is a flat rectangle or circle and the layer has uniform positive thickness. Dimensions are positive.
- The result is total geometric coating volume; it does not split resin and hardener, convert between their masses, or account for cure behavior.
- Absorption, spills, edge runoff, voids and waste are separate from the geometric result.
- The entered thickness is not a recommendation about a product’s allowable pour depth.
Common questions
Is the result the resin component alone?
No. It represents the total geometric coating volume. Split components only according to your product’s mixing instructions.
Can I solve for thickness?
Yes. Enter the surface dimensions and the corresponding volume to recover uniform geometric thickness.
