Formula and method
A 500 × 400 centimeter area with a 5-centimeter bedding layer needs 1 m³. At 1,600 kg/m³ and 50 per metric tonne, the material weighs 1.6 tonnes and costs 80.
Bedding volume = area × layer depth; mass = volume × bulk density
