Formula and method
At a regular rate of 20 per hour, 160 regular hours per month earn 3,200. Five overtime hours per month at a supplied multiplier of 1.5 earn 150, giving total gross monthly pay of 3,350.
Overtime hourly rate = regular hourly rate × multiplier; total gross pay = regular hours × regular rate + overtime hours × overtime rate

Assumptions and limitations
- Supply the regular and overtime hours separately. The calculator does not decide eligibility, count overtime automatically, or apply daily or weekly legal thresholds. The default multiplier of 1.5 is an editable example. Regular and overtime work-time inputs both start as hours per month.
- The two pay rates use the time units shown. Results start as monthly amounts. Time-unit conversions use fixed average durations (365.25 days per year and one twelfth of a year per month), not actual calendar dates. Gross pay excludes taxes, deductions, bonuses, other premiums and employer costs. Use the rates and hour classifications applicable to the work being modeled.
Common questions
Can I use double time?
Yes. Enter a multiplier of 2 for the overtime hours included in this calculation. If different overtime bands apply, calculate each band separately.
What if there are no overtime hours?
Enter zero overtime hours. Overtime pay is zero and total gross pay equals regular pay for the entered regular hours.
