Formula and method
A rectangular bed 5 meters long and 4 meters wide has an area of 20 m². At 10 centimeters deep it needs 2 m³ before allowance, or 2.2 m³ with 10% added.
Rectangle area = length × width; circle area = π × radius²; order volume = area × depth × (1 + allowance)

Assumptions and limitations
- It calculates volume only. Supplier bulk density and moisture affect weight. The allowance is an added fraction of geometric volume, not a material-specific compaction model.
- Use consistent units and project-specific dimensions, density and prices. This geometric estimate does not add quantities that are absent from the formula.
Common questions
Does this calculate the stone’s weight?
