Assumptions and limitations
- Inputs represent an elapsed duration, not a clock time or a date. A minute is 60 seconds and an hour is 60 minutes.
- Components may be zero, fractional or larger than their usual clock ranges; they are added as quantities. Negative components are rejected.
- The retained conversion runs from duration components to decimal hours. It does not infer three separate components from one total.
Common questions
Is 1.30 hours the same as 1 hour 30 minutes?
No. 1.30 decimal hours is 1 hour 18 minutes; 1 hour 30 minutes is 1.50 decimal hours.
