Formula and method
Eight two-pointers and four three-pointers from 20 total attempts produce 28 field-goal points and 70% effective FG.
Effective FG = (made field goals + 0.5 × made threes)/attempts; field-goal points = 2 × made twos + 3 × made threes.

Assumptions and limitations
- All shot counts and field-goal points are nonnegative whole numbers. Made shots cannot exceed attempts in the same category.
- At least one total field-goal attempt is required for effective FG. A zero attempt count for one shot category is allowed; that category’s accuracy is undefined and remains blank.
- The points control includes two- and three-point field goals only. It excludes free throws and is not total game scoring or true shooting percentage.
- Effective FG can exceed 100%; making every attempt as a three-pointer gives 150%. Ordinary two- and three-point accuracy remain at or below 100%.
- All ten quantities remain editable with the captured six equations and inverse branches. Supplying percentage alone does not identify unique attempt or made-shot counts.
- Percentage selectors display 70 for a 70% rate. The underlying ratio is 0.7. An inverse that implies fractional shots is rejected as an invalid discrete count.
Common questions
Can effective FG be more than 100%?
Yes. Ten made threes in ten attempts give 150% effective FG, even though ordinary shooting accuracy is 100%.
Does the points field include free throws?
No. It counts only two-point and three-point field goals.
What if there were no two-point attempts?
Two-point accuracy has no defined denominator. Leave that rate blank; a nonzero total attempt count can still define effective FG.
References
Use exact nonnegative count and made-versus-attempted checks; require a positive total attempt count. Effective FG may reach 150%, while per-category accuracy cannot exceed 100%. Preserve undefined category accuracy at zero attempts.
