How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
A 20-point example with 7/15 shooting, 4/5 free throws, 5 defensive and 2 offensive rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 3 fouls and 2 turnovers has Game Score 18.5.
Score = PTS + 0.4 FG − 0.7 FGA − 0.4(FTA−FT) + 0.7 ORB + 0.3 DRB + STL + 0.7 AST + 0.7 BLK − 0.4 PF − TO.

Assumptions and limitations
- Enter whole box-score counts; made shots cannot exceed attempts. Game Score is a weighted descriptive metric, not wins added or an efficiency percentage. The contextual bands preserve captured thresholds; the 65-point historical comparison is rounded and is not an exhaustive all-time ranking.
- Clear an unknown before solving an available inverse branch, and lock independent known values when comparing measurements. Use compatible units; a one-way score or lookup does not supply an inverse.
Common questions
What does this result represent?
Enter whole box-score counts; made shots cannot exceed attempts. Game Score is a weighted descriptive metric, not wins added or an efficiency percentage. The contextual bands preserve captured thresholds; the 65-point historical comparison is rounded and is not an exhaustive all-time ranking.
Can I work backward from an answer?
Where the captured equation supplies an inverse, clear the unknown and enter independent known values. Rounded scores, one-way outputs and fixed lookup choices do not uniquely recover inputs.
References
Use whole nonnegative box-score counts and require made shots not to exceed attempts.
