How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
An equal 2 m by 2 m arch has a modeled 5 m length; with 25 cm balloons the single-row estimate is 17.4 balloons.
Equal shape length = 1.5 × height + width; single-row count = 0.87 × length / diameter

Assumptions and limitations
- The three length heuristics are 1.5h+w for equal height/width, h+w for a wide arch and 2h+w for a tall arch. They do not derive an exact circular or elliptical arc.
- Single-row quantity uses factor 0.87; cluster choices use factors 4.8 and 6.3. Counts are fractional estimates, so round up and allow for breakage before ordering. Costs multiply unrounded counts and exclude equipment or labor.
Common questions
How should I interpret this result?
The three length heuristics are 1.5h+w for equal height/width, h+w for a wide arch and 2h+w for a tall arch. They do not derive an exact circular or elliptical arc.
Can I solve a missing input?
Clear the value you want to find, enter compatible known values, and check the displayed units. Some choices and one-way outputs cannot be solved backward.
References
The tall clustered-price field uses the single-row choice in the capture. Match the clustered count and tall geometry: type_select == 1 and height > width.
