Formula and method
A wingspan of 190 cm and height of 180 cm give a ratio of about 1.056 and a reach difference of +10 cm.
Wingspan ratio = wingspan / height; reach difference = wingspan − height

Assumptions and limitations
- Both measured lengths must be positive. Unit selections are normalized before division and subtraction.
- A ratio above one and a positive difference both mean wingspan exceeds height. A negative difference is valid.
- These are descriptive body measurements. Neither output establishes health, sporting ability or an ideal body proportion.
- Keep measurement technique consistent: measure fingertip-to-fingertip wingspan with arms extended and standing height separately.
Common questions
Does the ratio change between inches and centimetres?
No. The ratio is unitless. Only the numerical value of the length difference changes when its output unit changes.
