How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
Moving 10 kg from rest to 3 m/s in 0.5 seconds requires modeled net force 60 N; over 10 cm² that is 60 kPa.
Acceleration = speed/time; modeled net force = moving mass × acceleration; average pressure = force/area.

Assumptions and limitations
- Assume constant acceleration from rest, a chosen effective moving mass and a uniform force over a chosen area. Effective mass is not automatically full body mass. This computes a model average net force, not measured punch impact force, tissue injury or force from a collision waveform. Source convenience defaults are examples, not biomechanical measurements.
- Clear an unknown before solving an available inverse branch, and lock independent known values when comparing measurements. Use compatible units; a one-way score or lookup does not supply an inverse.
Common questions
What does this result represent?
Assume constant acceleration from rest, a chosen effective moving mass and a uniform force over a chosen area. Effective mass is not automatically full body mass. This computes a model average net force, not measured punch impact force, tissue injury or force from a collision waveform. Source convenience defaults are examples, not biomechanical measurements.
Can I work backward from an answer?
Where the captured equation supplies an inverse, clear the unknown and enter independent known values. Rounded scores, one-way outputs and fixed lookup choices do not uniquely recover inputs.

Permit zero speed, acceleration, net force and pressure in the stated nonnegative constant-acceleration model. Use exact international-inch acceleration, SI hourly acceleration and standard-atmosphere torr factors instead of rounded captured constants. Feet per second squared use exactly 0.3048 meters per second squared, replacing a rounded reciprocal factor. The pound-force uses the exact international pound and standard gravity instead of the rounded captured factor. Pounds-force per square inch use the exact international pound and inch with standard gravity, replacing the rounded captured factor.
