How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
10 m/s equals 36 km/h and takes 10 seconds per 100 m. Its speed in feet per second is approximately 32.808399.
Speed = distance/time; pace = time/distance; 1 mph = 0.44704 m/s.

Assumptions and limitations
- Speed and pace must be positive. Pace is reciprocal to speed; minutes:seconds controls accept duration components. The row labeled seconds per 100 m is a pace, not seconds per 100 km.
- The Beaufort equivalent is the continuous approximation v = 0.836 B^(3/2), not a categorical wind observation or a forecast. The c selector uses exactly 299792458 m/s.
- Clear the value you want to solve before entering the remaining independent measurements. Display rounding does not describe measurement uncertainty.
Common questions
How should I enter an unknown quantity?
Leave the unknown field empty. Supply enough independent values; lock a known value if you need to preserve it while changing another control.
