How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method

windTurbineProfit ≈ -49985.000.

Daily balance = daily generated energy × electricity price − entered cost; estimated daily energy = ½ρAv³η × 24 / 1000 kWh.

Worked example

Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.

Enter known daily energy
Generated daily electricity
100 kWh / day
Price of electricity
0.15 USD / kWh
Cost charged to this comparison
50000 USD / day
Daily receipts minus entered cost
-49985 USD / day

Assumptions and limitations

  • The energy control is daily energy, although the captured name refers to power. A kWh is energy, not kW of power.
  • The balance subtracts the entire entered cost from one day’s electricity receipts. If the cost is turbine capital expenditure, this is a one-day receipts-minus-capital comparison; it is not annual profit or a payback estimate.
  • The estimation branch assumes constant wind speed, density, swept area and coefficient through a full day. The coefficient is an ideal power extraction fraction and is bounded by 16/27.
  • Cost inputs are scenario values. Currency conversion choices retain the captured exchange snapshot, rather than live exchange rates; enter all costs in one currency for an internally consistent comparison.
  • The calculation assumes the entered operating conditions are constant for the stated comparison period. It does not predict weather, site suitability, construction performance, taxes, financing or maintenance.
  • Keep known inputs fixed with locks; clear the unknown before solving an inverse. Singularity or insufficient known inputs can leave results incomplete.

Common questions

Are the outputs a site-specific forecast?

No. They apply the stated algebraic model to supplied conditions. A real installation or building needs measured operating data and a broader engineering or cost assessment.

How are currency choices handled?

They use a fixed captured conversion snapshot. They do not retrieve current prices or exchange rates.

Bookify adds explicit model-domain checks: The constant-wind power coefficient must be positive and cannot exceed exactly 16/27.
