How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
With the 720 ft²-per-katha preset, 2 katha is 1,440 ft² or 133.7803776 m². With the 3,645 ft² preset, the same count describes a different area.
Area in square feet = katha count × selected square-feet-per-katha factor
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Area convention and explicit factor
- Bangladesh preset — 720 ft²
- Number of katha under that convention
- 2 katha
- Equivalent area, initially square feet
- 1440 ft²
- Equivalent area, initially square meters
- 133.78 m²
Assumptions and limitations
- Katha is region-dependent. Match the displayed numerical factor to the convention used in the original measurement or record.
- The Assam choice uses the Brahmaputra Valley convention of 2,880 ft². Assam’s Barak Valley uses 720 ft²; choose a 720 ft² preset for that arithmetic.
- Several retained presets use whole-square-foot approximations, including 1,361 ft². Results are exact arithmetic for the selected factor, not proof that a rounded preset matches a specific parcel record.
- Area and katha counts are nonnegative. One international square foot is exactly 0.09290304 m².
Common questions
Why is a regional selection necessary?
The same katha count can denote different areas under different local conventions. The selected square-foot factor determines this calculation.
Why show the factor in every option?
It lets you compare the preset with the source measurement directly instead of assuming a place name uniquely establishes the unit.

Bookify requires nonnegative quantities in this volume/mass, dose-unit or land-area conversion. The international acre is exactly 43560 square international feet; Bookify replaces the rounded captured area factor.
