Formula and method
121 is a perfect square: 11 × 11 = 121, and (−11) × (−11) = 121.
A perfect square equals k × k for an integer k.
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Number to check
- 121
- Result
- 121 is an integer square: 11 × 11, or -11 × -11.
Assumptions and limitations
- Arithmetic uses 64 significant decimal digits, with separate rounding for displayed results. Very large integer arithmetic is not an exact arbitrary-length integer service.
- A perfect square is the square of an integer. Zero is a perfect square; a negative real number cannot be an integer square.
- The retained source input guard is approximately ±10 trillion. Root and half-value fields are internal display helpers.
Common questions
Can I enter the result to calculate a missing input?
These tools classify an entered number or exponent; they do not invert the classification.
