How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Use the result with context

Results are estimates for planning and education. Confirm rates, taxes, fees, and legal requirements with the relevant institution or a qualified professional before making a financial decision.

Formula and method

A starting value of 10,000 growing 10% per year for two years becomes 12,100 before any taxes, fees or cash flows.

Final value = starting value × (1 + rate/100)^(number of rate periods)

Worked example

Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.

Assumptions and limitations

  • The rate stays constant and compounds for the number of periods implied by the selected rate frequency and total duration. No contributions, withdrawals, fees, taxes or inflation adjustment are included.
  • The daily option retains a simplified 30 days per month, or 360 daily periods per year. It does not count actual calendar days or leap years.
  • Yearly frequency uses one twelfth of a period per month at the calculation precision. A fractional period uses a fractional exponent.
  • Starting and final values are positive, the rate must exceed −100%, and total duration must be positive. Negative rates represent constant percentage decline.
  • A zero rate gives no change, but a duration inferred from identical values and zero rate is not uniquely determined.

Common questions

Does daily mode mean actual calendar-day compounding?

No. Daily mode uses the retained convention of 30 periods per month. Use a different model if actual day counts are required.

Bookify restricts the compounded growth rate to more than −100%, keeping the growth factor positive for fractional periods. Bookify replaces the truncated annual frequency preset with one twelfth at the calculation precision.
