Formula and method
At an input ratio of 11 mL water per gram, 15 g of coffee uses 165 mL of water. The retained fixed-factor model estimates 144.4245 mL of beverage.
Input water = coffee mass × water-to-coffee ratio; batch totals = per-serving quantities × servings; modeled beverage volume = input water × 0.8753

Assumptions and limitations
- Ratios here refer to input water in mL per gram of coffee. Espresso output-weight ratios are a different measurement.
- The captured espresso preset uses 3.6 mL/g, despite its original 1:2 label. The option now states its actual input ratio. Other preset names identify the captured suggestions, not universal recipes.
- The beverage estimate always uses 87.53% of input water. This fixed retained model does not measure extraction, absorption, evaporation or equipment retention and can differ substantially from a real brew.
- Water mass selectors assume 1 g per mL. Serving count means portions, not a standard measuring-cup size. Custom input ratios must be positive.
- Cold-brew and 3:50 presets retain the rounded inputs 4.444 and 16.6666 mL/g. For a different recipe, use the custom input ratio.
Common questions
Does the output predict espresso shot yield?
No. It applies the fixed beverage-volume factor to input water. Measure actual shot yield separately; an input-water ratio is not a dose-to-beverage-mass ratio.

Bookify validates positive custom ratios and batch quantities, and uses exact US customary cup and fluid-ounce conversions for the retained water-density model.
