How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.
Formula and method
A nominal 1,000 kg mass with a 2 m moment arm and 1 m pull height gives a 2,000 kg-force-equivalent righting term.
Pull = rolling + wheel-damage + signed gradient; righting = weight × arm / height
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- I want to...
- right a rolled over load
- Centre of gravity
- 2 m
- Height
- 1 m
- Pull
- 2000 kg
Assumptions and limitations
- Vehicle presets are nominal masses. The force-equivalent result combines coarse coefficients without friction dynamics, rigging losses or a safety factor. It does not certify a winch, anchor, cable or recovery procedure; use equipment specifications and a competent rigging assessment.
Common questions
What does this estimate assume?
Vehicle presets are nominal masses. The force-equivalent result combines coarse coefficients without friction dynamics, rigging losses or a safety factor. It does not certify a winch, anchor, cable or recovery procedure; use equipment specifications and a competent rigging assessment.
Can I find a missing input?
Clear the unknown field and enter compatible known values. The controls retain supported inverse calculations, while rounded counts and one-way outputs stay directional.
References
Wheel counts must be whole numbers, original wheel count is positive, damaged count cannot exceed original count, and custom mass is positive. These checks do not make the coarse recovery model a rigging specification. Integer membership is checked with isInteger, so ordinary, tiny and large fractional counts are rejected even when tolerant floor equality would pass.
