How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Use the result with context

Health results are educational estimates, not a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. A qualified clinician can interpret measurements in the context of your health.

Formula and method

Albumin 3 mg/dL and creatinine 100 mg/dL give ACR 30 mg/g.

ACR (mg/g) = albumin (mg/dL) × 1000 ÷ creatinine (mg/dL).

Worked example

Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.

Albumin
3 mg/dL
Creatinine
100 mg/dL
ACR
30 mg/g

Assumptions and limitations

  • Use urine albumin and urine creatinine from the same spot specimen; do not substitute serum creatinine. Creatinine must be positive. The captured creatinine molar conversion uses the conventional 88.4 µmol/L per mg/dL.
  • The KDIGO 2024 categories describe albuminuria, not a diagnosis from one sample. Repeat measurements and clinical evaluation may be needed. Algebraic inverses recover only uniquely defined positive-denominator relationships.

Common questions

How is urine ACR calculated?

Divide urine albumin in mg/dL by urine creatinine in g/dL, giving mg/g. When both are entered in mg/dL, multiply the quotient by 1000.

Does an ACR result diagnose chronic kidney disease?

No. ACR is one kidney-assessment marker; chronicity, repeat testing and other findings matter.

References

Allow a zero albumin concentration and zero ACR in the nonnegative arithmetic domain; creatinine must remain positive. A zero ratio cannot recover creatinine uniquely.
