Formula and method
One stone equals 14 avoirdupois pounds or exactly 6.35029318 kilograms. The additional mass field also offers grams, ounces, tonnes and compound units.
Pounds = stones × 14; kilograms = stones × 6.35029318
Worked example

Assumptions and limitations
- The ordinary pound and ounce are avoirdupois units. The separately labeled troy ounce is a different mass. US short tons, imperial long tons and metric tonnes also differ.
- The arithmetic can convert signed mass differences; enter a nonnegative value for an actual mass. This does not calculate force from gravity.
Common questions
Can I show stones and pounds together?
Yes. Select the compound stones/pounds unit in the additional mass field. Its components use colons rather than a decimal separator.
What is the difference between an ounce and a troy ounce?
An avoirdupois ounce is one sixteenth of an avoirdupois pound, or 28.349523125 grams. A troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams.
