How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Private by default

Inputs and results stay in this browser tab. Bookify does not upload or store the values you enter.

Formula and method

number of splits = 5.0000; splits time = 300.00. The example uses the declared units and assumptions.

number_of_splits = floor(running_distance / split_distance); splits_time =pace * split_distance; final_run_distance = running_distance - split_distance * floor(running_distance / split_distance); final_run_time = (running_distance - split_distance * floor(running_distance / split_distance)) * pace; total_run_time = running_distance * pace; remaining_time = total_run_time - split_number *splits_time

Assumptions and limitations

  • Assumes a uniform supplied pace. Full split count is floor(distance/split length), and the remainder is a final partial split. Split number counts completed full intervals and must be a whole number within that count.
  • Editable controls retain the supported captured branches; clear an unknown and supply independent known quantities. A singular or underdetermined inverse may remain incomplete.

Common questions

What assumptions apply?

Assumes a uniform supplied pace. Full split count is floor(distance/split length), and the remainder is a final partial split. Split number counts completed full intervals and must be a whole number within that count.

Can I solve an unknown?

Clear an editable unknown and provide enough independent quantities in the displayed units. Discrete counts must remain whole numbers.

References

A completed split number must be a whole number. Full split count must be a nonnegative whole number.
