Formula and method
An average rate of one event per day is seven per week, 30.4375 per modeled month and 365.25 per modeled year. The month and year are fixed-duration units.
Converted rate = original rate × seconds in target time unit ÷ seconds in original time unit

Assumptions and limitations
- The optional year is a fixed 365.25 days, and a month is one twelfth of that year: 30.4375 days. These units do not count calendar months, leap days or clock changes.
- Each field is a quantity per the selected time unit, not a duration between individual events. The default columns start with years through seconds; changing a selector changes that comparison scale.
- Rates are assumed constant on average. Fractional event counts represent averages, not a promise of a partial event or a particular event schedule.
- Zero is supported. Signed values can represent a net flow; use nonnegative values when describing a physical event frequency.
Common questions
Why does a rate get larger when converted from per day to per year?
The longer denominator interval contains more days. At one per day, a fixed 365.25-day year contains an average 365.25 events.
Can this generate dates for recurring events?
No. It converts an average rate using fixed time units. Scheduling a particular day of each calendar month requires calendar rules.
