Formula and method
Divide real GDP by population for the same place and period. Real GDP of 50,000,000,000 and population of 1,000,000 gives 50,000 per person.
Real GDP per capita = real GDP ÷ population

Common questions
Is GDP per capita the average salary?
No. It divides economic output by the whole population, including people who are not employed. It does not measure individual wages or income distribution.
