Formula and method
Producing 110 units in 5.5 net hours gives three minutes per unit. In weekly mode, five eight-hour days with one hour of daily breaks give 35 hours; 100 units then average 0.35 hours each.
Average cycle time = net production time ÷ units produced; weekly net time = days × (hours per day − daily breaks)
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.

Assumptions and limitations
- This calculation divides available production time by actual output. Takt time relates available time to demand, while lead time includes waiting and the full process. Use good units and net time consistently if measuring effective production performance.
- Match the units shown and use measured inputs where available. The result follows the stated model and does not account for unentered changes.
Common questions
Is cycle time the same as takt time or lead time?
This calculation divides available production time by actual output. Takt time relates available time to demand, while lead time includes waiting and the full process. Use good units and net time consistently if measuring effective production performance.
