Formula and method
A cost of 20 per two units means 10 per unit. A selling price of 45 per three units means 15 per unit; selling 100 units at a 10% discount gives 1,350 revenue, 1,000 cost and 350 modeled profit.
Profit = quantity × (selling pack price / selling pack quantity × (1 − discount/100) − cost pack price / cost pack quantity)

Assumptions and limitations
- The cost and selling packs can contain different quantities, but both refer to the same underlying unit. Pack quantities and quantity sold must be positive.
- The percentage discount reduces selling revenue only and must be from 0% through 100%. Fractional units are supported for goods sold by measure.
- The result includes only the costs you entered. Overheads, platform fees, tax, returns and shipping are excluded unless already incorporated in the unit cost.
- Zero cost, a free selling price and a 100% discount are valid. Negative modeled profit is shown as a loss, not suppressed.
Common questions
Is this net business profit?
Only if every relevant cost is already included. Otherwise it is the difference between the entered product cost and discounted revenue.

Bookify permits zero costs and prices, and bounds the selling discount to 0% through 100%.
