How to use this calculator
- Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
- Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
- Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method
At 300 pixels per inch, 1,800 pixels correspond to six inches. At 150 PPI, the same 1,800 pixels correspond to 12 inches.
Pixels = inches × PPI; inches = pixels ÷ PPI
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Length in inches

- Pixels per inch (PPI)

- Length in pixels
- 1800
Assumptions and limitations
- PPI must be positive; lengths and pixel counts are nonnegative. A fractional pixel result is a mathematical dimension, not a resampled image.
- This tool converts one dimension. It does not resize an image, change its total pixels or model CSS/device-pixel scaling.
- PPI measures image pixels per inch. A printer’s ink-dot DPI is a separate specification.
- The starting PPI of 96 is an editable example, not a measurement of your image or screen.
Common questions
Does changing PPI create more pixels?
Not in this calculation. With the same pixel count, a different PPI changes the physical length. Resampling is a separate operation.
Can I find PPI from inches and pixels?
Unlock and clear PPI first, then enter positive length in inches and a positive pixel count. Zero inches and zero pixels do not determine a unique PPI.
References
Bookify requires positive PPI and nonnegative pixel and inch dimensions.
