Org Chart Layout Helper
Make an organization chart from reporting relationships. Check for errors, arrange people and export the diagram.
What structure does an organization chart need?
Use a directed graph with one root, one parent per other node and no cycles. Validation catches ambiguous reporting relationships before layout. Add names and notes, select direction and spacing, and export the positioned hierarchy as JSON, CSV, SVG or PNG.
Make the connections.

Use directed: true or false, a nodes array with unique IDs, and edges with source and target IDs.
Keyboard: focus a node and use arrow keys to move it; hold Shift for larger steps. Labels and notes are available in the editor below.

Deleting a node also deletes its connections. Undo restores both. Keep at least one node.

Is this tool free, and are my files uploaded?
This tool is free with no account required. The work happens in your browser. Your input and files are not sent to a processing server.
What are the limits and details?
This layout expects a single-parent hierarchy. Matrix reporting, shared managers and cycles must be modeled separately. Node labels and notes are plain text; the tool does not connect to an HR directory.
Limits: 500 nodes, 2,000 edges and 500,000 project characters. Expensive operations run in a cancellable 30-second browser worker.
