Formula and method
Divide net profit by revenue and express the ratio as a percentage. Net profit of 15,000 on revenue of 100,000 is a 15% net profit margin.
Net profit margin (%) = net profit ÷ revenue × 100

Common questions
How does net margin differ from gross margin?
Net margin uses profit after all expenses included in net income. Gross margin subtracts cost of sales but does not deduct every operating, financing or tax expense.
