Assumptions and limitations
- One minute is 60 seconds, an hour is 60 minutes, a day is 24 hours and a week is seven days.
- A year here means exactly 365.25 days (Julian year); the fixed month is one twelfth of that year, or 30.4375 days. These are duration conventions, not calendar month lengths.
- Compound time uses hours:minutes:seconds. A fractional final unit remains a fractional duration; no date, time zone, daylight-saving change or leap-second schedule is applied.
- This model accepts nonnegative durations. Check each unit selector because the same field can display a different duration unit.
Common questions
Why do six months equal 182.625 days?
This converter uses a fixed month of 30.4375 days. Six actual calendar months can have a different length.
Does it calculate a finish date?
No. It converts elapsed quantities using fixed unit factors. Calendar dates need a date-aware calculation.
