How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the known values in the units shown. Results update as you type.
  2. Where results are editable, change one to solve backwards. Lock a value to hold it fixed.
  3. Use the worked example to check the method. Reset restores the starting fields.

Formula and method

48 hours equals two 24-hour days, 2,880 minutes or 172,800 seconds. The other fields express the same interval on a different scale.

Days = hours ÷ 24; hours = days × 24

Worked example

Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.

Assumptions and limitations

  • A year means exactly 365.25 days (31,557,600 seconds) in this model. A month is one twelfth of that year: 30.4375 days or 2,629,800 seconds. These fixed durations do not count actual calendar months or anniversaries.
  • A day is 24 hours, an hour is 60 minutes and a minute is 60 seconds. This arithmetic does not account for daylight-saving transitions, leap seconds or a named time zone.
  • Compound time fields use colons between the displayed components. For example, 1:30:0 in hours/minutes/seconds is 1.5 hours, not 1.30 decimal hours. Use the selected unit to interpret the components.
  • A signed interval keeps its sign. Changing an optional unit changes the numeric representation, so read the selected unit rather than assuming the field’s starting scale.

Common questions

How do I show days plus remaining hours?

Choose a days/hours compound unit in the flexible time field. Enter or read the components separated by a colon.

Does this include business-day rules?

No. Every modeled day is a fixed 24-hour duration. Weekends, holidays and working-hour schedules are not part of this conversion.
