EBITDA margin = EBITDA ÷ revenue
Worked example
Enter these known values and leave the other values blank.
- Revenue for the period
- 1000 USD
- EBITDA for the same period
- 150 USD
- EBITDA margin
- 15 %
Assumptions and limitations
- Revenue must be positive. Use EBITDA and revenue from the same period and accounting scope.
- EBITDA can be negative or zero. It is not net income, cash flow or a complete profitability assessment.
- The tool divides an entered EBITDA amount; it does not construct or reconcile adjusted EBITDA.
Common questions
Can EBITDA margin be negative?
Yes. A negative EBITDA divided by positive revenue produces a negative margin.
Can I calculate revenue from margin?
Enter EBITDA and a nonzero margin. Zero EBITDA and zero margin do not determine a unique revenue.
